Exhaust Manifold

Removal & Installation



At this time the manufacturer does not provide removal and installation procedures for this component. The following procedure is a guideline and may differ from the vehicle you are servicing.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    NOTE
    If working near and/or around the SRS system and components, be sure to disable the SRS system. After disabling the system wait three minutes or more before servicing the vehicle. Disconnect the air bag module connector.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Remove the heat shield.
  8.  
  9. Tag and disconnect the high tension wires from the spark plugs.
  10.  
  11. Detach the oxygen sensor connector.
  12.  
  13. Raise and support the vehicle, as required.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.
  16.  

Soak the exhaust pipe retaining bolts with penetrating oil, if necessary, to loosen them.

  1. Remove the exhaust manifold mounting nuts, then remove the manifold from the cylinder head.

To install:


NOTE
Be sure to use new fasteners, as required.

  1. Clean the exhaust gasket mounting surfaces.
  2.  
  3. Using new gaskets, install the manifold onto the engine and, working from the center outward, tighten the exhaust manifold nuts/bolts to specification
  4.  
  5. Reconnect the exhaust pipe to the manifold with a new gasket.
  6.  
  7. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  8.  
  9. Using the CONSULT-III diagnostic tool, or equivalent, perform the SRS self diagnostic test and any reconnect/relearn procedures, as required.
  10.  
  11. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
