Fuel Rail (Supply Manifold) & Injectors

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    NOTE
    If working near and/or around the SRS system and components, be sure to disable the SRS system. After disabling the system wait three minutes or more before servicing the vehicle. Disconnect the air bag module connector.


    NOTE
    Before disconnecting the fuel line, release the fuel pressure from the fuel line.

  3. Start the engine.
  4.  
  5. Using the CONSULT-III diagnostic tool, or equivalent, perform the fuel pressure release procedure.
  6.  
  7. Turn the engine off.
  8.  
  9. Remove the fuel pump fuse.

  11. Start the engine.
  12.  
  13. After the engine stalls, crank it a few times to release all fuel pressure.
  14.  
  15. Position the ignition switch in the OFF position.
  16.  
  17. Reinstall the fuel pump fuse.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  20.  
  21. Remove the required components in order to gain access to the injector tube assembly.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  24.  
  25. Remove the injector tube assembly with the injectors from the intake manifold.
  26.  
  27. Remove the injectors from the injector tube assembly. Discard the O-rings.

To install:


NOTE
Be sure to use new fasteners, as required.

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Be sure to coat new O-rings with clean engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the retaining bolts to 84-96 inch lbs., step 1 and 15-20 ft. lbs., step 2.

  7. Start the engine and check for leaks, correct as required.
  8.  
  9. Using the CONSULT-III diagnostic tool, or equivalent, perform the SRS self diagnostic test and any reconnect/relearn procedures, as required.
