Removal & Installation



Wiper Motor

Specific to:

Nissan Pickup 1996-1997

At this time the manufacturer does not provide removal and installation procedures for this component. The following procedure is a guideline and may differ from the vehicle you are servicing.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    NOTE
    If working near and/or around the SRS system and components, be sure to disable the SRS system. After disabling the system wait three minutes or more before servicing the vehicle. Disconnect the air bag module connector.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wiper blades and arms as an assembly from the pivots. The arms are retained to the pivots by nuts. Remove the nuts and pull the arms straight off.
  6.  
  7. Remove the cowl top grille. It is retained by screws at its front edge. Remove the screws and pull the grille forward to disengage the tabs at the rear.
  8.  
  9. Remove the stop ring which connects the wiper motor arm to the connecting rod.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the wiper motor harness at the connector on the wiper motor body from under the instrument panel.
  12.  
  13. Remove the retaining screws and pull the wiper motor outward and remove the motor from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Install the wiper motor and connect the harness.
  2.  
  3. Connect the linkage to the motor arm and then install the cowling.

  5. The wiper arms should be installed so that the blades are 0.98 in. (25mm) above, and parallel to, the windshield molding. If the motor has been run, be sure the motor and linkage is in its parked position before installing the wiper arms. To do this, connect the negative battery cable, then turn the ignition switch ON and cycle the motor three or four times. Shut off the motor with the wiper switch (not the ignition switch), and allow the motor to return to the Park position.

  7. Using the CONSULT-III diagnostic tool, or equivalent, perform the SRS self diagnostic test and any reconnect/relearn procedures, as required.

Wiper Washer

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    NOTE
    If working near and/or around the SRS system and components, be sure to disable the SRS system. After disabling the system wait three minutes or more before servicing the vehicle. Disconnect the air bag module connector.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the fluid reservoir electrical connection.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the fluid tube from the washer motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the reservoir retaining bolts and slide out of the bracket.

To install:


NOTE
Be sure to use new fasteners, as required.

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
    NOTE
    To make the hose installation easier, apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the motor nipple before installing the washer tube. This way the hose will slide over the tube.

  3. Using the CONSULT-III diagnostic tool, or equivalent, perform the SRS self diagnostic test and any reconnect/relearn procedures, as required.
