Removal & Installation




NOTE
Be sure that you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and navigation system, if equipped. Record the audio presets.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Wait 3 minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing any service.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Be sure that the ignition switch is in LOCK (O).
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the VSA modulator control unit electrical connector.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect and plug the brake lines.
  14.  
  15. Remove the control unit with the bracket from the body.
  16.  
  17. Remove the locknuts and remove the control unit from the bracket.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Be sure to use new locknuts.
  2.  
  3. Bleed the brake system.
    CAUTION
    If the brake pedal is spongy there may be air trapped in the modulator. Bleed the system again.

  5. Perform the VSA sensor neutral position memorization procedure.
    NOTE
    The power window reset procedure must be performed when disconnecting the battery, removing the No. 1 (20 amp) fuse in the passenger-s under dash fuse/relay box, disconnecting the 18P connector from the power window control unit, removing the window regulator, glass or glass run channel and disconnecting the driver-s door wire harness.

  7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  8.  
  9. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  10.  
  11. Move the driver-s power window all the way down by holding the driver-s power window switch firmly down to the second detent. When the window reaches the bottom, hold the driver-s power window switch in the AUTO DOWN position for two seconds.

  13. Move the driver-s power window all the way up without stopping by holding the driver-s power window switch firmly up to the second detent. When the window reaches the top, hold the driver-s power window switch in the AUTO UP position for two seconds.
    NOTE
    If the power window does not work in AUTO, repeat the procedure.

  15. Start the engine and check that the ABS and VSA indicators do not stay on. Test drive the vehicle to ensure that the indicator lights do not come on.

  17. Correct problems, as required.
