CAUTION
Be sure to review the SRS component locations before removing this component.


NOTE
Be sure that you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and navigation system, if equipped. Record the audio presets.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Wait 3 minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing any service.
  6.  
  7. Remove the instrument cluster. Remove the left middle panel. Remove the center panel.

  9. Remove the control head retaining screws. Remove the control head with the brackets from its mounting. Disconnect the connectors.
  10.  
  11. Remove the screws and separate the control head from the brackets.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. If equipped with manual air conditioning run the self diagnostic function to confirm proper system operation.
  4.  
  5. If equipped with climate control air conditioning run the self diagnostic function to confirm proper system operation.
    NOTE
    The power window reset procedure must be performed when disconnecting the battery, removing the No. 1 (20 amp) fuse in the passenger-s under dash fuse/relay box, disconnecting the 18P connector from the power window control unit, removing the window regulator, glass or glass run channel and disconnecting the driver-s door wire harness.

  7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  8.  
  9. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  10.  
  11. Move the driver-s power window all the way down by holding the driver-s power window switch firmly down to the second detent. When the window reaches the bottom, hold the driver-s power window switch in the AUTO DOWN position for two seconds.
  12.  
  13. Move the driver-s power window all the way up without stopping by holding the driver-s power window switch firmly up to the second detent. When the window reaches the top, hold the driver-s power window switch in the AUTO UP position for two seconds.
    NOTE
    If the power window does not work in AUTO, repeat the procedure.

Self-Diagnostic Function



Automatic Air Conditioning

Specific to:

Honda Pilot 2006-2008

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  2.  
  3. Set the driver-s temperature control dial to MAX cool.
  4.  
  5. Press and hold the OFF button.
  6.  
  7. While holding the OFF button, press the AUTO button five times within ten seconds. The self-diagnostic function will begin.

  9. If there is a problem, the temperature indicator light will light up the segment (A thru N) corresponding the error. See illustration.

  11. If no DTC-s are found the temperature indicator will alternate every second between displaying -88- (all segments lit) and the error code segment (A thru N).
    NOTE
    The system will only display the DTC when the AUTO and OFF buttons are pressed. If you release the buttons, the display will go blank. To return the display, press the AUTO then the OFF buttons again.

  13. If there is no abnormality the segments will not light up.
    NOTE
    If there are no DTC-s and the system still does not operate, check the sensor input to the control head.

  15. Turn the ignition switch OFF to cancel the self diagnostic function.

Manual Air Conditioning

Specific to:

Honda Pilot 2006-2008

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  2.  
  3. Turn the fan switch OFF.
  4.  
  5. Press the recirculation button to select the recirculation mode (indicator light will come on).
  6.  
  7. Press and hold the control button to select Fresh (indicator light will go off). Continue to hold the button for ten seconds. The recirculation indicator comes on for two seconds, and self-diagnostics will begin.
  8.  
  9. After recording the DTC, release the recirculation button.
  10.  
  11. If the system is okay, the recirculation indicator stays off.
  12.  
  13. If the system is not okay, the recirculation indicator will blink the DTC, to indicate a faulty circuit or component.

  15. Turn the ignition switch OFF to cancel the self diagnostic function.
