Removal & Installation




NOTE
Be sure that you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and navigation system, if equipped. Record the audio presets.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Wait 3 minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing any service.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Drain the engine coolant. Properly dispose of used coolant.
  10.  
  11. Remove the engine cover. Disconnect the breather pipe and remove the air intake duct.

  13. Remove the PCV hose. Remove the brake booster hose. Remove the EVAP canister hoes. Remove the transmission breather hose clamp bracket.

  15. Remove and plug the water bypass hoses.
  16.  
  17. Remove the IAT sensor connector, throttle actuator connector, MAP sensor connector and the EVAP canister connector.
  18.  
  19. On the J35Z1 engine, remove the IMT valve actuator connector.
  20.  
  21. Remove the upper cover mounting bolts and nuts in sequence and in three steps. Remove the cover.

  23. Remove the intake manifold retaining bolts and nuts in sequence and in three steps. Remove the intake manifold.

  25. On the J35Z1 engine, remove the spacer.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. If equipped with the J35Z1 engine, install the gaskets and spacer on the injector base.
  4.  
  5. Install the intake manifold. Be sure to use a new gasket. Tighten in sequence and in three steps to specification. Specification is 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).

  7. Install the upper cover Be sure to use a new gasket. Tighten the retaining bolts in three steps to specification. Specification is 8.8 ft. lbs. (11.9 Nm).

  9. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
    NOTE
    The power window reset procedure must be performed when disconnecting the battery, removing the No. 1 (20 amp) fuse in the passenger-s under dash fuse/relay box, disconnecting the 18P connector from the power window control unit, removing the window regulator, glass or glass run channel and disconnecting the driver-s door wire harness.

  11. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  12.  
  13. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  14.  
  15. Move the driver-s power window all the way down by holding the driver-s power window switch firmly down to the second detent. When the window reaches the bottom, hold the driver-s power window switch in the AUTO DOWN position for two seconds.

  17. Move the driver-s power window all the way up without stopping by holding the driver-s power window switch firmly up to the second detent. When the window reaches the top, hold the driver-s power window switch in the AUTO UP position for two seconds.
    NOTE
    If the power window does not work in AUTO, repeat the procedure.
