Removal & Installation

Honda Pilot 2006-2008


NOTE
Be sure that you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and navigation system, if equipped. Record the audio presets.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Wait 3 minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing any service.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the switch electrical connector.
  10.  
  11. Using the proper tool, removal the switch from its mounting.

To install:

  1. Remove any old gasket material from the switch mounting hole or switch, if reusing.
  2.  
  3. Apply a small amount of liquid gasket to the switch threads. Install the switch.
  4.  
  5. Tighten to specification. Specification is 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
    WARNING
    Using too much gasket material, may cause gasket material to get into the oil passage.

  6.  
  7. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  8.  

Testing



Specific to:

Honda Pilot 2006-2008

  1. Disconnect the wire from the switch.
  2.  
  3. Check for continuity between the positive terminal of the switch and engine ground. There should be continuity with the engine stopped.
  4.  
  5. There should be no continuity with the engine running.
