Relieving Fuel System Pressure

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
    NOTE
    Be sure that you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and navigation system, if equipped. Record the audio presets.

  3. Remove the driver-s side dashboard lower cover and disconnect the PGM-FI main relay.

  5. Start the engine and let it idle until it stalls.
    NOTE
    A temporary code may be set during this procedure and the codes must be cleared after repairs are completed.

  7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  8.  
  9. Remove the fuel cap.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Wait 3 minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing any service.

  13. Remove the quick connect fitting cover.
    NOTE
    Place a shop towel over the quick connect fitting and disconnect the fitting.

  15. To disconnect the quick connecting fitting, hold the connector with one hand and squeeze the retainer tabs with the other hand to release them from the locking tabs. Pull the connector off.
    WARNING
    Be careful not to damage the fuel line or any other parts. Do not use tools.


    NOTE
    If the connector does not move keep the retainer tabs pressed down and alternately pull and push the connector until it comes off easily.


    NOTE
    Do not remove the retainer from the line. Once it is removed the retainer must be replaced with a new one.


    NOTE
    The power window reset procedure must be performed when disconnecting the battery, removing the No. 1 (20 amp) fuse in the passenger-s under dash fuse/relay box, disconnecting the 18P connector from the power window control unit, removing the window regulator, glass or glass run channel and disconnecting the driver-s door wire harness.

  17. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  19. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

  21. Move the driver-s power window all the way down by holding the driver-s power window switch firmly down to the second detent. When the window reaches the bottom, hold the driver-s power window switch in the AUTO DOWN position for two seconds.

  23. Move the driver-s power window all the way up without stopping by holding the driver-s power window switch firmly up to the second detent. When the window reaches the top, hold the driver-s power window switch in the AUTO UP position for two seconds.
    NOTE
    If the power window does not work in AUTO, repeat the procedure.
