Power Door Locks



Diagnosis & Testing

The manufacturer does not provide power door lock testing for the power door lock system at this time.

Removal & Installation
Door Lock Motor

Specific to:

Honda Pilot 2006-2008


NOTE
The manufacturer does not provide door lock motor service procedures for servicing the power door lock actuator. The door panel must first be removed to gain access to the door lock actuator.


NOTE
Be sure that you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and navigation system, if equipped. Record the audio presets.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Wait 3 minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing any service.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Fully lower the door glass.
  10.  
  11. Using a suitable flat tipped pry tool, pry out the lower portion of the door handle cover to release the hooks. Remove the cover.
  12.  
  13. Remove the screws.
  14.  
  15. To remove the inner handle from the door panel pull the handle forward and out half way to release the hook. Pull out the top of the handle.
  16.  
  17. While pulling on the handle, disconnect the inner handle rod from the joint bushing.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the power door lock switch connector. Remove the inner handle.
  20.  
  21. Detach the clip and release the hooks. Remove the switch panel.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
    NOTE
    On the driver-s side disconnect the power mirror switch connector.

  25. Detach the clips and release the hooks. Pry out the mirror mount cover in the sequence shown in the illustration.

  27. Remove the door panel retaining screws. Using a suitable pry tool, remove the door panel retaining clips.
  28.  
  29. Remove the door panel from the vehicle.

  31. Carefully remove and disconnect the necessary components in order to gain access to the door lock actuator assembly.

  33. Disconnect the actuator electrical connector.
  34.  
  35. Remove the actuator retaining bolts. Disconnect the actuator control rod.
  36.  
  37. Remove the actuator from its mounting.
  38.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
    NOTE
    The power window reset procedure must be performed when disconnecting the battery, removing the No. 1 (20 amp) fuse in the passenger-s under dash fuse/relay box, disconnecting the 18P connector from the power window control unit, removing the window regulator, glass or glass run channel and disconnecting the driver-s door wire harness.

  3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  6.  
  7. Move the driver-s power window all the way down by holding the driver-s power window switch firmly down to the second detent. When the window reaches the bottom, hold the driver-s power window switch in the AUTO DOWN position for two seconds.
  8.  
  9. Move the driver-s power window all the way up without stopping by holding the driver-s power window switch firmly up to the second detent. When the window reaches the top, hold the driver-s power window switch in the AUTO UP position for two seconds.
    NOTE
    If the power window does not work in AUTO, repeat the procedure.

Door Lock Switch

NOTE
The manufacturer does not provide door lock switch service procedures for servicing the power door lock switch.


NOTE
Be sure that you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and navigation system, if equipped. Record the audio presets.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Wait 3 minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing any service.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Carefully determine how the switch plate is attached to its mounting.
  10.  
  11. As required, carefully pry, loosen or unscrew the switch plate from its mounting.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch plate.
  14.  
  15. Remove the switch from the switch plate.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
    NOTE
