Stabilizer Bar (Sway Bar) & Links

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect both stabilizer links from the stabilizer bar.
  6.  
  7. Remove the rear suspension subframe.

  9. Remove the flange bolts and the bushing holders.
  10.  
  11. Remove the stabilizer bar from its mounting.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the stabilizer bar bushing bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
    NOTE
    Note the right and left direction of the stabilizer bar. The bar has a paint mark on the center facing downward. Do not set the bushing on the bent or curved part of the stabilizer bar.

  5. Check and adjust the rear alignment, as required.
  6.  

Stabilizer Link
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies.
  4.  
  5. Remove the self locking nut and the flange nut while holding the respective joint pin with the hex wrench.
  6.  
  7. Remove the stabilizer link from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Install the stabilizer link on the stabilizer bar and stabilizer link bracket with the joint pins set at the center of each moving range.

  3. Install the new flange nuts. Lightly tighten them.
  4.  
  5. Position a floor jack at the connecting point of the lower arm and knuckle. Raise the suspension to load it with the vehicles weight.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the new flange nuts to specification. See illustration.

  9. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  10.  
  11. Check and adjust the rear alignment, as required.
