  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Label each spark plug wire for proper installation.
  4.  
  5. Remove the spark plug and module electrical connectors from the ignition coils.
  6.  
  7. Remove the three coil-to-engine attaching bolts.
  8.  


CAUTION
Be careful not to damage the crankshaft and module terminals when pulling the coil assemblies from the engine. Pull slowly and carefully away from the engine.

  1. Gently pull the coil assemblies from the engine.
  2.  
  3. There are two coils that can be replaced separately. Remove the two coil retaining screws and remove the coil.
  4.  

To install:

  1. Position the coil on the base plate and tighten the retaining screws.
  2.  
  3. Position the coil pack assembly onto the engine. Be careful to position the crankshaft sensor properly in the engine. Torque the three coil-to-engine attaching bolts to 9 ft. lbs. (12.2 Nm).

  5. Install the spark plug and module electrical connectors. Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
