Crossover Pipe

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Scribe the engine compartment lid hinges for proper reinstallation. Remove the rear compartment lid with an assistant.
  4.  


CAUTION
Personal injury may result if the engine compartment lid torsion rod retaining bolts are removed. The torsion bolts do not have to be removed to remove the compartment lid.

  1. Remove the EGR hose, shift cables at the transaxle and the EGR tube from the exhaust crossover-to-intake manifold.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front and rear crossover shields and oxygen sensor connector.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bolts at the front and rear exhaust manifolds.
  6.  
  7. Raise the vehicle and support with jackstands.
  8.  
  9. Remove the bolts from the catalytic converter.
  10.  
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Remove the crossover pipe, oxygen sensor pipe and EGR valve pipe.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Assemble the oxygen sensor, EGR valve and adapter to the crossover pipe.
  2.  
  3. Install the crossover and crossover-to-manifold bolts (front and rear). Torque the bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Raise the vehicle and support with jackstands.
  6.  
  7. Install the catalytic converter bolts and torque to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Lower the vehicle. Connect the oxygen sensor. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
