Scribe a line around the hinge on the engine compartment lid inner panel and rear panel to indicate the original position.


CAUTION
The torque rod bolts are under tension. Follow the steps under the rear compartment lid removal and installation when removing the bolts as personal injury may result.

  1. With an assistant, remove the electrical connections and hinge mounting bolts. Remove the rear lid.
  2.  

To install:

  1. With an assistant, position the rear lid to the scribed areas on the inner panel. Install the bolts and close the lid carefully and check for proper alignment.
  2.  

ADJUSTMENT



Trailing Edge Too High or Low
  1. Loosen the bolts.
  2.  
  3. Raise or lower the striker as required.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the bolts to 15-20 ft. lbs. (20-27 Nm).
  6.  

Lock Assembly Binding on Side of Striker
  1. Loosen the bolts on both hinges.
  2.  
  3. Move the striker right or left as required.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the bolts to 15-20 ft. lbs. (20-27 Nm).
  6.  

Leading Edge Too High or Low (Either Side)
  1. Loosen the nuts on both hinges.
  2.  
  3. Remove both hinges left or right as required.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the nuts to 15-20 ft. lbs. (20-27 Nm).
  6.  

Lid Too Far Left or Right
  1. Loosen the nuts on both hinges.
  2.  
  3. Move the striker right or left as required.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the bolts to 15-20 ft. lbs. (20-27 Nm).
  6.
