The evaporative control canister uses a charcoal element which stores fuel vapor from the fuel tank. The fuel vapor is removed from the canister and consumed in the normal combustion process when the engine is running.
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
- Loosen the screw holding the canister-to-mounting bracket.
- Rotate the canister bracket and remove. Disconnect the canister hoses noting their position for installation.
- Pull the filter out from the bottom of the canister with your fingers.
- Install a new canister filter, connect the hoses in their proper location, position the canister-to-mounting bracket and tighten the retaining screw. For hose routing, refer to the "Vacuum Routing Diagrams" in .
