Relieving Fuel System Pressure

CAUTION
Be sure that the ignition switch is OFF before relieving the fuel system. Never work near an open flame, a source of sparks or smoke while working on the fuel system! See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the fuel filler cap.
  4.  
  5. Place a shop towel over the banjo bolt to absorb any fuel that may spray out as the bolt is loosened.
  6.  
  7. Using a 12mm box-end wrench, loosen the banjo bolt from the top of the fuel filter. Be sure to hold the fuel filter with another wrench.
  8.  
  9. Slowly unscrew the banjo bolt one turn.
  10.  
  11. Always replace the banjo bolt sealing washers whenever the bolt is loosened.
  12.  
  13. After the fuel system pressure is relieved, tighten the bolt, install the fuel filler cap, then connect the negative battery cable.

V6 Odyssey Models

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the fuel filler cap.
  4.  
  5. Use a wrench to loosen the fuel pulsation damper on the fuel rail near the throttle linkage.
  6.

  1. Place a shop towel over the fuel pulsation damper to absorb any fuel that may leak out as the damper is loosened.
  2.  
  3. Slowly unscrew the fuel pulsation damper one turn.
  4.  
  5. Always replace the sealing washer whenever the fuel pulsation damper loosened.
  6.  
  7. After the fuel system pressure is relieved, tighten the fuel pulsation damper, install the fuel filler cap, then connect the negative battery cable.
