Removal & Installation



Front Wheel

Specific to:

Mercury Villager 1993-1998

Nissan Quest 1993-1998

  1. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheel.
  2.  
  3. Apply the parking brake, block the rear wheels, then raise and safely support the front of the vehicle securely on jackstands.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front wheels.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front speed sensor bolt.
  8.  
  9. Remove the two front speed sensor harness bracket bolts from the strut and remove the brackets.
  10.  
  11. Remove the two front speed sensor harness bracket bolts from the wheel well. Push the sensor harness grommet through the wheel well.
  12.  
  13. In the engine compartment, disconnect the front speed sensor electrical connector and pull the harness retainer from the body.
  14.  
  15. Remove the front speed sensor from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. The installation is the reverse of removal. When installing the front speed sensor bolt, tighten it to 13-17 ft. lbs. (18-24 Nm).

Rear Wheel

  1. Raise and safely support the rear of the vehicle securely on jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear speed sensor bolt.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear speed sensor from the brake backing plate.
  6.  
  7. Remove the rear speed sensor harness-to-rear axle housing bracket bolt and remove the bracket from the axle housing.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rear speed sensor harness-to-body bracket bolt.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the rear speed sensor electrical connector.
  12.  
  13. Slide the rear speed sensor from its retaining clips and remove it from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. The installation is the reverse of removal. When installing the rear speed sensor bolt, tighten it to 13-17 ft. lbs. (18-24 Nm).
