Transaxle Range Switch

Print

Specific to:

Mercury Villager 1993-2000

Nissan Quest 1993-2000

The transaxle range (TR) switch includes three elements, the park/neutral position switch, the gearshift position switch, and the back-up lamp switch. The park/neutral position switch acts as a neutral safety switch, preventing the engine from being started while the transaxle is in gear. The gearshift position switch indicates to the transaxle control module (TCM) what gear the transaxle is in for transaxle control purposes. The back-up lamp switch activates the back-up lamps when the gearshift is in the R (reverse) position.
