Inspection

Specific to:

Mercury Villager 1993-2000

Nissan Quest 1993-2000

The distributor cap and rotor should be checked at every tune-up/inspection. Wash the cap and rotor with soap and water. Dry the parts thoroughly, preferably with compressed air, since moisture inside the cap will cause ignition misfire from arcing. Inspect the distributor cap for burns, cracks, a broken carbon button, terminal corrosion, and carbon tracking between the terminals. Inspect the rotor for burns, cracks, and corrosion. Replace either as needed, although it is generally best to replace the distributor cap and rotor at the same time.
