Air Cleaner Element (Filter)

Specific to:

Mercury Villager 1993-2000

Nissan Quest 1993-2000

The air cleaner is used to prevent airborne dirt and dust from entering the engine, where it would act as an abrasive, causing damage, and possibly shortening the life of the engine. Therefore, the vehicle should always be run with the air cleaner in place, except for short periods during maintenance or diagnosis. In addition, a clogged air cleaner filter will not allow proper air flow into the engine, causing reduced power and fuel economy.

It is important, therefore, to service the air cleaner at regular intervals. The factory recommends filter replacement every 30,000 miles (48,000 km), however, if the vehicle is operated in a dirty or dusty environment, the filter may need to be replaced more frequently. Attempting to clean the filter is not recommended.

The air cleaner is mounted to the driver-s side inner front fender in the engine compartment, behind the battery.
