Specific to:

Nissan Quest 1993-2000

The use of a press and special tools is required to replace the hub and/or front wheel bearings. If these tools are not available, the wheel hub, knuckle, and bearing assembly can be taken to a reputable auto repair or machine shop for bearing replacement.

Removal & Installation

  1. Remove the front wheel hub, knuckle, and bearing assembly from the vehicle.
  2.
  3. If the knuckle is being replaced with a service part, change over the steering stop bolt and jam nut from the old knuckle to the replacement part.
  4.
  5. Install a suitable puller to the back of the knuckle.
  6.
  7. Position the proper diameter adapter on the hub and tighten the puller bolt until it contacts the adapter. Continue tightening the puller bolt to press the hub from the knuckle. Note that the inner wheel bearing race may come out with the hub.
  8.
  9. Remove the wheel bearing snapring from the knuckle.
  10.
  11. Position the knuckle on a press with the inboard side of the knuckle facing up.
  12.
  13. Position the proper diameter tool on the outer wheel bearing race and press the bearing from the knuckle.
  14.
  15. If the inner wheel bearing race came out with the hub, remove the race from the hub as follows:
    1. Position a bearing puller or similar tool on the hub under the inner race.
    2.
    3. Position the tool in the press on suitable supports with the inner race facing up.
    4.
    5. Position the proper diameter tool on the hub and press the hub from the inner race.
