Removal & Installation



Specific to:

Mercury Villager 1993-2000

Nissan Quest 1993-2000

  1. Raise and safely support the rear of the vehicle securely on jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the brake drum.
  6.  
  7. Remove the grease cap from the hub.
  8.  
  9. Remove and discard the hub nut cotter pin.
  10.  
  11. Remove the hub nut and washer.
  12.  
  13. Remove the rear wheel hub and bearing assembly.

To install:

  1. The installation is the reverse of removal, but please note the following important steps.
  2.  
  3. When installing the rear wheel hub nut, tighten it to 145-210 ft. lbs. (196-284 Nm). Install a new cotter pin.
  4.  
  5. When installing the lug nuts, tighten them to 72-87 ft. lbs. (98-118 Nm).

Removal & Installation



Specific to:

Mercury Villager 1993-2000

Nissan Quest 1993-2000

  1. Remove the rear wheel hub and bearing assembly from the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel bearing snapring from the hub.
  4.  
  5. Position the hub on a press with the outboard side of the hub facing up.
  6.  
  7. Position the proper diameter tool on the wheel bearing and press the bearing from the hub.

To install:

  1. Position the hub on a press with the inboard side of the hub facing up.
  2.  
  3. Place the wheel bearing assembly in position on the hub.
  4.  
  5. Position the proper diameter tool on the outer wheel bearing race and press the bearing into the hub.
  6.  
  7. Install the wheel bearing snapring in the hub.
  8.  
  9. Install the hub and bearing assembly on the vehicle.
