Common Steps
  1. New pan gaskets must be used. Obtain these before beginning.
  2.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable(s).
  4.
  5. Raise the vehicle for access.
  6.
  7. Drain the engine oil.
  8.
  9. When installing, clean all mating surfaces thoroughly. Use a quality adhesive sealant on gasket(s)and split lines.
  10.
  11. Installation can be made easier by making alignment dowels from bolts. Diameter and TPI will depend on engine. Cut off the heads and cut in a screwdriver slot. Install one "dowel" in each corner if the pan mating surface and slide the pan over them when fitting.
  12.
  13. Tighten pan bolts gradually and evenly.
