NOTE
This procedure applies only to diesel-engine models

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Exhaust front pipe
     
    Air inlet and outlet tubes
     
    Oil supply and drain lines
     
    Turbocharger

To install:


NOTE
Use anti-seize compound on the turbocharger mounting studs.

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Turbocharger. Tighten the nuts to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).
     
    Oil supply and drain lines
     
    Air inlet and outlet tubes
     
    Exhaust front pipe
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  2.  
  3. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  4.  

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cables.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the turbocharger elbow.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the air inlet hose.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the oil supply line and oil drain tube.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the charge air cooler inlet pipe.
  10.  
  11. Remove the nuts and remove the turbocharger from the exhaust manifold.
  12.  
  13. Cover the opening to prevent entry of foreign matter.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Apply anti-seize compound to the mounting studs. Tighten the nuts to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Tighten the oil drain tube to 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Pour 2-3 oz. (50-60 cc) of clean engine oil into the oil supply line fitting. Carefully rotate the impeller by hand to distribute the oil.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the oil supply line fitting nut to 11 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Tighten hose clamps to 95 inch lbs. (11 Nm). Tighten exhaust pipe bolts to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
