Stabilizer Bar (Sway Bar) & Links

Removal & Installation



  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove link bolt nuts, retainers and insulators from the strut bar.
  4.  
  5. Remove the link bolts, retainers, insulators and spacers from the stabilizer bar.
  6.  
  7. Remove stabilizer bar retainer bolts and remove the bar.
  8.  
  9. Remove the bushings from the stabilizer bar.

To install:

  1. Install the bushings on the stabilizer bar.
  2.  
  3. Position the stabilizer bar on the frame rails.
    NOTE
    Make sure the bar is centered with equal spacing on both sides.

  4.  
  5. Install stabilizer bar retainers and bolts. Tighten the bolts to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the link bolt, retainers, spacer and insulators.
  8.  
  9. Install the link bolts nuts. Tighten the nuts to 100 inch lbs. (11 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Remove support and lower the vehicle.
  12.  

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the stabilizer bar retainer bolts from the lower suspension arms.
  4.  
  5. Unbolt the stabilizer bar retainers from the frame.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bar.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure all hardware is properly tightened. Refer to the torque specifications charts.
