Removal & Installation



Heavy Duty
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wheel and tire assemblies.
  6.  
  7. Compress the caliper.
  8.  
  9. Remove the caliper.
  10.  
  11. Remove the caliper by tilting the top up and off the caliper adapter.
    NOTE
    Do not allow brake hose to support caliper assembly.

  13. Support and hang the caliper.
  14.  
  15. Remove the inboard and outboard brake pads from the caliper adapter.
    NOTE
    Anti-rattle springs are not interchangeable.

  17. Remove the top and bottom anti-rattle springs from the caliper adapter.
  18.  

To install:

  1. Bottom pistons in caliper bore with C-clamp. Place an old brake shoe between a C-clamp and caliper piston.
  2.  
  3. Clean caliper mounting adapter and anti-rattle springs.
  4.  
  5. Lubricate anti-rattle springs with Mopar® brake grease.
  6.  
  7. Install new top and bottom anti-rattle springs.
  8.  
  9. Install inboard and outboard brake pads in adapter.

  11. Tilt the top of the caliper over rotor and under adapter. Then push the bottom of the caliper down onto the adapter.
  12.  
  13. Install brake caliper.
  14.  
  15. Install the caliper slide pin bolts. Tighten to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).
  16.  
  17. Install wheel and tire assemblies and lower vehicle.
  18.  
  19. Apply brakes several times to seat caliper pistons and brake shoes and obtain firm pedal.
  20.  
  21. Top off master cylinder fluid level.
  22.  

Light Duty
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wheel and tire assemblies.
  6.  
  7. Compress the caliper.
  8.  
  9. Remove the caliper slide pin bolts.
  10.  
  11. Remove the caliper from the caliper adapter.
    WARNING
    Do not allow brake hose to support caliper assembly.

  13. Support and hang the caliper.
  14.  
  15. Remove the inboard brake pad from the caliper adapter
  16.  
  17. Remove the outboard brake pad from the caliper adapter.

  19. Remove the anti-rattle clips from the pad.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Bottom pistons in caliper bore with C-clamp. Place an old brake shoe between a C-clamp and caliper piston.
  2.  
  3. Clean caliper mounting adapter.
  4.  
  5. Install new anti-rattle clips to the brake pads.
  6.  
  7. Install inboard brake pad in adapter.
  8.  
  9. Install outboard brake pad in adapter.
  10.  
  11. Install the caliper over rotor, Then push the caliper onto the adapter.
  12.  
  13. Install the caliper slide pin bolts. tighten to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).

  15. Install wheel and tire assemblies and lower vehicle.
  16.  
  17. Apply brakes several times to seat caliper pistons and brake shoes and obtain firm pedal.

  19. Top off master cylinder fluid level.
