  1. Start the engine.
  2.  
  3. Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature.
  4.  
  5. With a scan tool, select view DTCs.
    NOTE
    It may be necessary to drive the vehicle to meet the conditions to set this DTC, try to repeat the conditions in which the fault originally set by reviewing the freeze frame data.

  7. Check for any DTCs are Active or Pending at this time. If there are no DTCs problem may be intermittent.
  8.  
  9. If DTCs are present, visually inspect the fuel tank for damage that may restrict the fuel sending unit float from moving.
  10.  
  11. If no visual problems were found, turn the ignition off.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the fuel pump module harness connector.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the C4 Cluster harness connector.
  16.  
  17. Measure the resistance of the (N4) fuel level signal circuit from the fuel pump module harness connector to the C4 cluster harness connector.
  18.  
  19. The resistance reading should be below 5.0 ohms.
  20.  
  21. If the reading was not as stated, repair the open in the (N4) fuel level signal circuit.
