Rear Mounted Tank



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Release fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Raise and support vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Drain fuel tank. Refer to Standard Procedure - Draining Fuel Tank.
  8.  
  9. Remove both clamps.
  10.  
  11. Remove ground wire screw and disconnect ground wire.
  12.  
  13. Remove fuel fill hose assembly.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect electrical connector from module.
  16.  
  17. GAS POWERED Disconnect fuel supply line and vapor line quick-connect fittings.
  18.  
  19. DIESEL POWERED Disconnect fuel return and supply line quick-connect fittings.
  20.  
  21. Support tank with a hydraulic jack.
  22.  
  23. Certain models may have an optional fuel tank skid plate. The same mounting bolts are used to retain both the skid plate and fuel tank. Remove bolts.

  25. Lower the tank assembly from vehicle and lift tank from skid plate.

To install:

  1. If fuel pump module (gas), or fuel tank module (diesel) is being installed, refer to either Fuel Pump Module Installation, or Fuel Tank Module Installation. This must be done before installing tank.
  2.  
  3. Position fuel tank into fuel tank skid plate.
  4.  
  5. Place assembly to a hydraulic jack.
  6.  
  7. Raise assembly up to frame.
  8.  
  9. Install bolts and tighten to 41 ft. lbs. (55 Nm).
  10.  
  11. GAS POWERED Connect quick-connect fittings.
  12.  
  13. DIESEL POWERED Connect fuel return and supply line quick-connect fittings.
  14.  
  15. Connect electrical connector to module.
  16.  
  17. Fit fuel fill hose assembly to tank fittings.
  18.  
  19. Install both clamps.
  20.  
  21. Install ground wire screw and ground wire.
  22.  
  23. Fill tank and check for leaks.

Side (Mid-Ship) Mounted Tank



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Release fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Raise and support vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Drain fuel tank. Refer to Standard Procedure - Draining Fuel Tank.
  8.  
  9. Loosen clamps.
  10.  
  11. Remove hoses and from tank.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect electrical connector at top of module.
  14.  
  15. GAS POWERED Disconnect fuel supply line and vapor line quick-connect fittings.
  16.  
  17. DIESEL POWERED Disconnect fuel return and supply line quick-connect fittings.
  18.  
  19. Support tank with a hydraulic jack.
  20.  
  21. Remove nuts.
  22.  
  23. Remove both tank straps (4).
  24.  
  25. Lower tank and remove from hydraulic jack.

To install:

  1. If fuel pump module (gas), or fuel tank module (diesel) is being installed, refer to either Fuel Pump Module Installation, or Fuel Tank Module Installation. This must be done before installing tank.

  5. Raise assembly up to frame.
  6.  
  7. Install tank straps.
  8.  
  9. Install strap nuts and tighten to 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm).
  10.  
  11. GAS POWERED Connect quick-connect fittings.
  12.  
  13. DIESEL POWERED Connect fuel return and supply line quick-connect fittings.
  14.  
  15. Position hoses and to tank fittings.
  16.  
  17. Tighten clamps.
  18.  
  19. Connect electrical connector at top of module.
  20.  
  21. Fill tank and check for leaks.
