  1. Remove the cowl vent grille panel.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the heater hoses at the core tubes.
  6.  
  7. Cut the core hook retaining wires and lift up on the hooks.
  8.  
  9. Unbolt the heater control valve from under the dashboard.
  10.  
  11. Pull the core out of the vent grille opening.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal.

R-15, R-17, and Gordini
  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the radio speaker.
  6.  
  7. Remove the glove compartment.
  8.  
  9. Remove the radio.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the wiper switch wires.
  12.  
  13. Remove the center console retaining bolts.
  14.  
  15. Remove the shift lever boot retaining screws and remove the boot with a 1 / 4 turn to the left.
  16.  
  17. Remove the heater control cables.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect all wires attached to the heater case.
  20.  
  21. Unbolt and remove the case.
  22.  
  23. Remove the heater valve from the case.
  24.  
  25. Remove the core cover from the case and lift out the core.
  26.  
  27. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure that all seals are in good condition. Make sure that the control cables are adjusted properly.
