  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2.  
  3. Unclip the speedometer cable in the engine compartment.
  4.  
  5. Unclip and remove the instrument cluster trim panel.
  6.  
  7. The cluster is secured by one clip on each side. Press inward on the side clips until they clear the support plate, then pull the cluster out.
  8.  
  9. Unscrew the speedometer cable.
  10.  
  11. For access to any gauge, remove the cluster cover glass.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  14.  

Alliance and Encore

  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2.  
  3. Remove the cluster retaining bolts (2) at the bottom of the cluster housing.
  4.  
  5. Grasp the sides of the cluster housing and press inwards to detach the housing. Depress the two top retaining clips, pull the housing out far enough to disconnect the wiring and speedometer cable.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  8.  

R-12
  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2.  
  3. From behind the cluster, disconnect the wiring and speedometer cable.
  4.  
  5. From behind the panel, depress the two retaining clips at the top of the panel. Tilt the panel outward at the top and lift it to free the mounting pegs at the bottom.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make certain that the lower mounting pegs are engaged in their slots.
  8.  

R-15, R-17 and Gordini
  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2.  
  3. Unscrew the two knurled nuts on the fusebox bracket and tilt it.
  4.  
  5. Remove the four cluster retaining screws at the corners.
  6.  

the speaker grille will have to be removed to get at the right side screws.

  1. Carefully pry up at the bottom of the cluster to free the bottom center retaining clip.
  2.  
  3. Pull down and out on the cluster to free the top retaining clips.
  4.  

Take great care to avoid damage to the printed circuit board on the back of the cluster.

  1. Disconnect the wiring and speedometer cable.
  2.  
  3. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  4.  

R-18 and Fuego
CUSTOM MODELS
  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2.  
  3. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers.
  4.  
  5. Remove the two screws securing the instrument panel to the dash. The screws are at the bottom.
  6.  
  7. Reach behind the panel and disconnect the wiring and speedometer cable.
  8.  
  9. Tilt the panel forward, and using a small screwdriver, pry out on the top of the panel, while pushing the bottom in by hand.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure that the panel hinges on the two pins when installing.

DELUXE MODELS

  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2.  
  3. On either side of the panel there are three button or switch positions. On all models the bottom ones are blank. These are covers over the cluster retaining screws. Pry these covers off and remove the screws. Lift off the cluster bezel.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the switches and remove the switch panel.
  6.  
  7. Squeeze the instrument panel retaining clips and pull the panel out far enough to disconnect the speedometer and wiring. Lift the panel out of the car.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal.
