  37. Important: Replacement compressors are partially pre-charged with PAG oil.
  38.
  39. If replacing the compressor, balance the compressor oil.
  40.

To install:

  1. Install the compressor.
    NOTE
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2.
  3. Install the compressor mounting bolts and tighten the bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
  4.
  5. Remove cap or tape from the discharge hose.
  6.
  7. Install a new sealing washer to the discharge hose.
  8.
  9. Connect the discharge hose to the compressor.
  10.
  11. Install the discharge hose to compressor nut and tighten the nut to 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).
  12.
  13. Remove cap or tape from the suction hose.
  14.
  15. Install a new sealing washer to the suction hose.
  16.
  17. Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
  18.
  19. Install the suction hose to compressor nut, and tighten the nut to 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).
  20.
  21. Connect the electrical connector to the compressor.
  22.
  23. Connect the engine harness electrical connector.
  24.
  25. Install the air baffle.
  26.
  27. Install the air baffle bolts, and tighten the bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  28.
  29. Release the drive belt tensioner. Install the drive belt on to the compressor pulley.
  30.
  31. Install the right hand engine splash shield.
  32.
  33. Lower the vehicle.
  34.
  35. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
  36.
  37. Leak test the fittings of the component using the special tool J 39400-A.
