3.4L & 3.5L Engines



  1. For 3.5L engines, remove the intake manifold cover.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wiring harness from the wiring harness retainer located on the power steering pump reservoir.
  4.  
  5. Remove the accessory drive belt from the power steering pump pulley.
  6.  
  7. Remove the power steering pump pulley from the pump.
  8.  
  9. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
  10.  
  11. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering pump.
  12.  
  13. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts from the power steering pump.

  15. Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.
  16.  
  17. Cap off the power steering pump and hoses in order to prevent contamination.
  18.  
  19. Remove the power steering pump reservoir from the power steering pump.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Install the power steering pump reservoir to the power steering pump.
  2.  
  3. Uncap the power steering pump and hoses.
  4.  
  5. Position the power steering pump to the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts and tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the power steering pump pulley to the power steering pump.
  10.  
  11. Install the wiring harness to the wiring harness retainer located on the power steering pump reservoir.
  12.  
  13. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.
  14.  
  15. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
  16.  
  17. Install the accessory drive belt.
  18.  
  19. Fill and bleed the power steering system.
  20.  
  21. Inspect the system for leaks.
  22.  
  23. Install the intake manifold cover.
  24.  

3.6L Engine



  1. Turn the steering wheel in order to move the front of the right wheel to the outboard most position in order to allow clearance to remove the power steering pump.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front right wheel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the accessory drive belt from the power steering pump pulley.
  8.  
  9. Remove the right engine splash shield.
  10.  
  11. Remove the right front drive shaft.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the power steering pump inlet hose from the power steering pump.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the power steering pressure pipe/hose from the power steering pump.
  16.  
  17. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.

  19. Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.
  20.  
  21. Cap off the power steering pump and hoses in order to prevent contamination.
  22.  
  23. Remove the power steering pulley from the power steering pump.
  24.  

To install:

  1. Install the power steering pulley to the power steering pump.
  2.  
  3. Uncap off the power steering pump and hoses .
  4.  
  5. Position the power steering pump to the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts. HAND TIGHTEN ONLY.
  8.  
  9. Install the side power steering mounting bolt and tighten the side power steering mounting bolt to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the rear power steering mounting bolt and tighten the rear power steering mount bolt to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Connect the power steering pressure pipe/hose to the power steering pump and tighten the power steering pressure pipe/hose fitting to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Connect the power steering reservoir inlet hose to the power steering pump.
  16.  
  17. Install the right front drive shaft.
  18.  
  19. Install the right engine splash shield.
  20.  
  21. Install the accessory drive belt to the power steering pump pulley.
  22.  
  23. Install the front right wheel.
  24.  
  25. Lower the vehicle.
  26.  
  27. Bleed the power steering system.
  28.  
  29. Inspect the system for leaks.
  30.
