Description & Operation



Specific to:

Honda Ridgeline 2006-2008

The CMP sensor input is used by the PCM to determine ignition timing at start up (cranking) and when crank angle is abnormal.

Removal & Installation



Specific to:

Honda Ridgeline 2006-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Remove the timing belt.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front camshaft pulley.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the CMP sensor connector, then remove the back cover.
  8.  
  9. Remove the CMP sensor from the back cover.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
  2.  
  3. Using a scan tool, perform the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure.
  4.  

Testing



Specific to:

Honda Ridgeline 2006-2008

  1. Connect an HDS or equivalent scan tool to the data link connector (DLC) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch ON .
  4.  
  5. Check the CMP SENSOR in the DATA LIST.
  6.  
  7. If voltage is not modulating in a square wave pattern and within specification, inspect the connectors and wiring harness.
  8.  
  9. If no faults are found, replace the sensor.
  10.
