Intake Manifold

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Make sure the anti-theft codes for the audio system and navigation system (if equipped) are available.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the intake manifold cover.
  8.  
  9. Remove the air intake tube.
  10.  
  11. Remove the throttle and cruise control cables.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor connector.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve connector.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor connector.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor connector.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) control canister purge valve connector.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum line.
  24.  
  25. Disconnect the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose.
  26.  
  27. Disconnect the water bypass hoses from the throttle body and plug the hoses.
  28.  
  29. Disconnect the EVAP control canister hose .
  30.  
  31. Remove the upper cover bolts and nuts in the sequence illustrated using two or three passes.
  32.  
  33. Remove the intake manifold bolts in sequence using two or three passes.
  34.  
  35. Remove the intake manifold and spacer.

To install:

  1. Install the New intake manifold gasket and spacer.
  2.  
  3. Install the intake manifold. Tighten the fasteners in sequence and in several passes to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the upper cover bolts and nuts in the sequence illustrated using two or three passes to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the EVAP control canister hose .
  8.  
  9. Install the water bypass hoses to the throttle body.
  10.  
  11. Install the brake booster vacuum line.
  12.  
  13. Install the PCV hose.
  14.  
  15. Connect the EVAP control canister purge valve connector.
  16.  
  17. Connect the MAP sensor connector.
  18.  
  19. Connect the TP sensor connector.
  20.  
  21. Connect the IAC valve connector.
  22.  
  23. Connect the IAT sensor connector.
  24.  
  25. Install the throttle and cruise control cables.
  26.  
  27. Install the air intake tube.
  28.  
  29. Install the intake manifold cover.
  30.  
  31. Connect the negative battery cable.
  32.  
  33. Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped).
  34.  
  35. Set the clock on vehicles without navigation.
  36.  
  37. Perform the power window control unit reset procedure.
  38.  
  39. Start the engine and check for proper operation.
