Removal & Installation



Front Cover

Specific to:

Honda Ridgeline 2006-2008

  1. Remove the three ignition coils from the front cylinder head, as outlined in the Engine Electrical Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the two bolts (A) securing the harness holder.
  4.  
  5. Remove the dipstick (B) and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose (C).
  6.  
  7. Remove the front cylinder head cover.

To install:

  1. Check the spark plug seals for damage. If the seal is damaged, replace it.
  2.  
  3. Clean the head cover contacting surfaces with a shop towel.
  4.  
  5. Set the spark plug seals (A) on the spark plug tubes, and install the cylinder head cover (B). Visually check the spark plug seals for damage.
  6.  
  7. Inspect the cover washers (C). Replace any washer that is damaged or deteriorated.

  9. Tighten the bolts in two or three steps. In the final step tighten all bolts, in sequence, 8.7 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).

  11. Tighten the two bolts securing the harness holder to 8.7 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).

  13. Install the dipstick and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.
  14.  
  15. Install the three ignition coils to the front cylinder head, as outlined in the Engine Electrical Section.

Rear Cover

Specific to:

Honda Ridgeline 2006-2008

  1. Remove the intake manifold, as outlined in this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the three ignition coils from the rear cylinder head, as outlined in the Engine Electrical Section.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bolt (A) securing the power steering hose clamp.
  6.  
  7. Remove the two bolts (B) securing the harness holder.
  8.  
  9. Remove the breather hose (C) and harness clamp (D).

  11. Remove the rear cylinder head cover.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Check the spark plug seals for damage. If the seal is damaged, replace it.

  5. Set the spark plug seals (A) on the spark plug tubes, and install the cylinder head cover (B).
  6.

  13. Install the breather hose and harness clamp.
  14.  
  15. Tighten the two bolts securing the harness holder to 8.7 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).

  17. Tighten the bolt securing the power steering hose bracket to 8.7 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  18.  
  19. Install the three ignition coils to the rear cylinder head, as outlined in the Engine Electrical Section
  20.  
  21. Install the intake manifold, as outlined in this section.
