Specific to:

  1. Apply battery voltage to the as specified in the chart and check the operation of the moonroof motor.

  3. If the result is not as specified, replace the motor.

Switch

Specific to:

Honda Ridgeline 2006-2008

  1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance and check the results in accordance with the value(s) in the table.

  3. If the result is not as specified, replace the moonroof switch.

Removal & Installation
Motor

Honda Ridgeline 2006-2008


NOTE
A KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014 is required to perform this procedure. Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.


WARNING
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Remove the A-pillar trim, both sides.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front seat belt lower anchor, both sides.
  6.  
  7. Remove the B-pillar lower trim, both sides.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front seat belt upper anchor, both sides.
  10.  
  11. Remove the B-pillar upper trim, both sides.
  12.  
  13. Remove the rear seat-back.
  14.  
  15. Remove the rear trim panel.
  16.  
  17. Remove the rear seat belt upper anchor, both sides.
  18.  
  19. Remove the C-pillar trim, both sides.
  20.  
  21. Remove the Ceiling light.
  22.  
  23. Remove the front seat, passenger's side.
  24.  
  25. Remove the Center console
  26.  
  27. From both sides, using a trim tool, release the tabs (A), then remove the sunvisor cap (B) from the bracket (C). Turn the cap, and remove it.

  29. Remove both sunvisors and holders .
    1. Remove the screws.
    2.  
    3. Remove the sunvisor from the body and holder.
    4.  
    5. If equipped, disconnect the vanity mirror light connector .
    6.  
    7. Using a flat-tip screwdriver, push the hook , turn the holder 90 º, then pull it out.
    8.

  31. Remove the roof console .
    1. Remove the lenses .
    2.  
    3. Remove the bolts.
    4.  
    5. Pull out the roof console and front individual map light .
    6.  
    7. Disconnect the front individual map light connector and navigation microphone connector .
    8.

  33. From both sides, remove the coat hangers .
    1. Using a wrapped pick tool with the protective tape, pry the cap down to detach the hooks ,
    2.  
    3. Remove the screws.
    4.

  35. Remove the headliner (A).
    1. Remove the front door opening trim (B) and rear door opening trim (C) from each roof portion.
    2.  
    3. With the help of an assistant, detach the rear clips, and release the fastener (D) and pin (E) by pulling the rear portion of the headliner down.
    4.  
    5. Moonroof: Detach the front clips by lowering the headliner.
    6.  
    7. Release the fasteners (F) by lowering the headliner.
    8.  
    9. Lower the headliner, and remove it through the passenger's door opening.
    10.  
    11. If necessary, remove the bolts, then remove the roof console bracket (G).

  37. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Disconnect the connector (A), and remove the bolts, then remove the motor (B).

To install:

  1. Installation is the revere of the removal procedure noting these items:
  2.  
  3. Tighten the motor attaching bolts to 7 ft. lbs. (9 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Make sure the connector is plugged in properly.
  6.  
  7. If the side curtain airbag has been deployed, replace the headliner.
  8.  
  9. To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect removed pieces and replace them if they have any of these types of damage:.
    1. Any creases or tears in the headliner .
    2.  
    3. Any fasteners or clip bases which have come off the headliner.
    4.  
    5. Any damage around the coat hanger holes or sunvisor holes in the headliner.
    6.  
    7. Any deformations in the coat hangers.
    8.  
    9. Any cracks in the sunvisor stay base.
    10.  
    11. Any bends or cracks in the sunvisor stay shaft .
    12.  
    13. Any cracks in the sunvisor base .
    14.  
    15. Any cracks in the vanity mirror base .
    16.  
    17. Any deformations in the grab handle bracket.
    18.

  11. Make sure the trim pieces overlaps the headliner correctly.
  12.  
  13. When passing the headliner through the door opening, be careful not to fold or bend it. Also, be careful not to scratch the body.
  14.  
  15. Check that both sides of the headliner are securely attached to the trim.
  16.  
  17. If the threads on a visor screws are worn out, use an oversized self-tapping ET screw, P/N 90137-S30-003, made specifically for this application.

Switch

Specific to:

Honda Ridgeline 2006-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Make sure the anti-theft codes for the audio system and navigation system (if equipped) are available.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the claws and remove the moonroof switch.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the switch connector.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Connect the switch connector.
  2.  
  3. Engage the claws and install the moonroof switch.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped).
  8.  
  9. Set the clock on vehicles without navigation.
  10.  
  11. Perform the power window control unit reset procedure.
  12.
