Removal & Installation



Lower Arm A

Specific to:

Honda Ridgeline 2006-2008


NOTE
The control arm bushings are an integral part of the lower control arms and not serviced separately.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Support the suspension with a floor jack under lower arm B, at the knuckle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear wheel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the lower arm mounting bolts and nuts.
  8.  
  9. Remove the lower arm.
    NOTE
    Raise the suspension to remove the arm.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal, noting the following:
  2.  
  3. Install all fasteners loosely, then, final torque all fasteners with the suspension loaded (weight of the car).
  4.  
  5. Using a new bolt and nut, tighten the bolt to 69 ft. lbs. (93 Nm) and the nut to 74 ft. lbs. (101 Nm).

Lower Arm B

Specific to:

Honda Ridgeline 2006-2008


NOTE
The control arm bushings are an integral part of the lower control arms and not serviced separately.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Support the control arm with a jack at the knuckle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear wheel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the locknut (A).
  8.  
  9. Remove the bolt (C).
  10.  
  11. Remove the bolt (D).
  12.  
  13. Gradually lower the arm.
  14.  
  15. Matchmark the adjusting cam.
  16.  
  17. Remove the locknut, adjusting bolt and adjusting cam at the frame.
  18.  
  19. Remove the spring assembly.
  20.  
  21. Remove the inner nuts and bolts and the arm.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  
  3. Install all fasteners loosely, then, final torque all fasteners with the suspension loaded (weight of the car).
  4.  
  5. Using new bolts and nuts, observe the following torques:

    Adjusting cam nut: 61 ft. lbs. (83 Nm)
     
    Nut A: 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm)
     
    Bolt C: 156 ft. lbs. (211 Nm)
     
    Bolt D: 105 ft. lbs. (142 Nm)

Trailing Arm

Specific to:

Honda Ridgeline 2006-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Support control arm B with a jack at the knuckle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the caliper and support it out of the way.
  6.  
  7. Remove the rotor.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the brake hose from the brake pipe and discard the clip. Plug the lines.
  10.  
  11. Remove the parking brake cable from the training arm.
  12.  
  13. Remove the trailing arm-to-knuckle bolts.
  14.  
  15. Remove the trailing arm mounting bolts.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  
  3. Install all fasteners loosely, then, final torque all fasteners with the suspension loaded (weight of the car).
  4.  
  5. Using new bolts and nuts and a new brake line clip, observe the following torque specifications:

    Trailing arm-to-knuckle bolts: 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm)
     
    Trailing arm mounting bolts: 76 ft. lbs. (103 Nm).

  7. Check the alignment.
  8.  
  9. Bleed the brakes.
  10.  

Upper Control Arm

Specific to:

Honda Ridgeline 2006-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Support the control arm at the knuckle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wheel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the upper ball joint from the knuckle.
  8.  
  9. Remove the upper arm bolt and the arm.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  
  3. Install all fasteners loosely, then, final torque all fasteners with the suspension loaded (weight of the car).
  4.  
  5. Using new bolts and nuts, and cotter pin, observe the following torque specifications:

    Upper control arm bolt: 69 ft. lbs. (94 Nm)
     
    Ball joint nut: 36-43 ft. lbs. (49-59 Nm).
