  13. Unfasten the throttle body retaining nuts and remove the throttle body.
  14.
  15. Remove and discard the flange gasket.
  16.
  17. Clean both gasket mating surfaces.
    NOTE
When cleaning the old gasket from the machined aluminum surfaces be careful as sharp tools may damage the sealing surfaces

  18.

To install:

  1. Install the new flange gasket and the throttle body assembly.
  2.
  3. Tighten the throttle body attaching nuts to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
  4.
  5. Install the accelerator cable bracket bolts and nuts and tighten to 108 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  6.
  7. Connect the throttle and cruise control cables.
  8.
  9. Attach the IAC valve and the TPS electrical connectors.
  10.

WARNING
Handle the electronic throttle control components carefully. Use cleanliness in order to prevent damage. Do not drop the electronic throttle control components. Do not roughly handle the electronic throttle control components. Do not immerse the electronic throttle control components in cleaning solvents of any type.

WARNING
DO NOT for any reason, insert a screwdriver or other small hand tools into the throttle body to hold open the throttle plate, as the throttle body could be damaged.

NOTE
An eight digit part identification number is stamped on the throttle body casting. Refer to this number if servicing, or part replacement is required.

  1. Partially drain the cooling system in order to allow the hose at the throttle body to be removed.
  2.
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct.
  4.
  5. Disconnect the throttle actuator motor electrical connector.
  6.
  7. Reposition the throttle body hose clamp.
  8.
  9. Remove both of the throttle body engine coolant hoses from the throttle body.
  10.
  11. Remove the throttle body bolts.
    NOTE
Do not reuse the throttle body gasket. Install a new gasket during assembly.

  12.
  13. Remove the throttle body and gasket. Discard the gasket.
  14.

To install:

  1. Install a NEW throttle body gasket.
  2.
  3. Install the throttle body.
  4.
  5. Install the throttle body bolts. Tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  6.
  7. Connect the 2 throttle body engine coolant hoses to the throttle body.
  8.
  9. Position the throttle body hose clamps.
  10.
  11. Connect the throttle actuator motor electrical connector.
  12.
  13. Install the air cleaner outlet duct.
  14.
  15. Refill the cooling system.
  16.
  17. Verify that the vehicle meets the following conditions:
    1. The vehicle is not in a reduced engine power mode.
    2.
    3. The ignition is ON .
    4.
    5. The engine is OFF.
    6.

  18.
  19. Connect a scan tool in order to test for a proper throttle-opening and throttle-closing range.
  20.
  21. Operate the accelerator pedal and monitor the throttle angles. The accelerator pedal should operate freely, without binding, between a closed throttle, and a wide open throttle (WOT).
  22.
  23. Start the engine.
  24.
  25. Inspect for coolant leaks.
