Removal & Installation



  1. Drain the engine coolant.
    CAUTION
    Before beginning this procedure, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section. Only a MVAC-trained, EPA-certified, automotive technician should service the A/C system or its components.

  2.  
  3. Recover the refrigerant.
  4.  
  5. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) carrier.
  6.  
  7. Reposition the heater hose clamps using hose clamp pliers.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
  10.  
  11. Remove the retaining nut from the accumulator at the evaporator.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the accumulator from the evaporator.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the evaporator.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect all of the electrical connectors to the HVAC module assembly.
  18.  
  19. Remove the HVAC module assembly.
  20.  

To install:

  1. If replacing the HVAC module assembly, transfer the components from the old HVAC module assembly as necessary.
  2.  
  3. Install the HVAC module assembly.
  4.  
  5. Connect all of the electrical connectors to the HVAC module assembly.
  6.  
  7. Connect the heater hoses to the heater core.
  8.  
  9. Connect the evaporator tube to the evaporator.
  10.  
  11. Install the accumulator to the evaporator.
  12.  
  13. Tighten the accumulator retaining nut to 40 inch lbs. (4.5 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Tighten the nut to 40 inch lbs. (4.5 Nm).
  16.  
  17. Install the I/P carrier.
  18.  
  19. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
  20.  
  21. Leak test the fittings of the components.
  22.  
  23. Refill the engine coolant.
  24.
