VSS positive (+) signal circuit is open or shorted to ground

Possible Causes:



Check for high resistance at battery connections or at the U/H Fuse Block power circuit

Check the condition of the battery (it may be worn out)

Possible Causes:



The PCM must be replaced to correct this problem. A new PCM must be programmed with the correct software/calibration.

Possible Causes:



Reprogram the PCM with the correct software and calibration. If this step does not correct the problem, the PCM must be replaced and programmed with the correct software/calibration.

An interruption to the PCM main power and/or ground circuits

Fuel System Lean During Acceleration

Possible Causes:



Fuel filter clogged or restricted
 
Fuel injectors dirty or restricted
 
Fuel level too low during heavy acceleration events
 
Fuel pressure regulator has failed (not supplying enough fuel)
 
Water or alcohol in fuel (low HO2S signal during acceleration)
 

Trouble Code: P1336



CKP Sensor System Variation Not Learned

Possible Causes:



Set the parking brake and block the drive wheels for safety.
 
Verify the hood is closed.
 
Read the trouble codes. If a code is set, refer to that code.
 
Start the engine. Allow engine temperature to reach at least 158ºF (70ºC). Then key off.
 
Select Crankshaft Position Variation Learn procedure on Scan Tool & start the vehicle.
 
Apply the brake pedal firmly and verify the selector is in Park.
 
Increase accelerator pedal position until fuel cutoff is reached at the test rpm (e.g., 5150). Quickly release the accelerator pedal after fuel cutoff is reached. The CKP system variation compensating values are learned when the engine speed (rpm) decreases back to idle speed and the procedure terminates.
 
Read the trouble codes and recheck for DTC P1336.
 
If DTC P1336 runs and passes, the CKP system variation "learn" procedure is complete. If not, look for other codes. If no codes are set, repeat the test procedure.
 

Trouble Code: P1380



EBTCM DTC Detected, Rough Road Data Unusable

Possible Causes:



Service the ABS before diagnosing a misfire because an actual engine misfire may or may not exist. Also, an actual engine misfire may have occurred during an ABS fault.
 
Determine if the vehicle was driven on a rough road, and the ABS could not detect this due to a malfunction. The PCM may interpret variations in crankshaft speed caused by the rough road as a misfire without an actual engine misfire present.
 
If U1016 is set, check for a fault in the IPC serial data line, its connections or in the IPC assembly or controller.
 

Trouble Code: P1381



Misfire Detected - No Communication With The EBCM

Possible Causes:



When this code is set, this indicates that a misfire was detected and that the PCM could not determine if the detected misfire was true or due to operating the vehicle on a rough surface. A misfire can be a true misfire with or without setting this code.
 
Check the IPC and EBCM for poor electrical connections at the UART serial data terminals. Verify that no true misfire exists after repairing the cause of this trouble code. If DTC U1016 is also set, this indicates that the malfunction may lie within the IPC serial data line, its electrical connections, or within the IPC.

EVAP System Flow During Non-Purge

Possible Causes:



An improperly installed or damaged EVAP canister purge valve
 
A temporary blockage in the EVAP canister purge valve, purge pipe, or EVAP canister could cause an intermittent condition
 
FTP sensor is out-of-calibration, damaged or "skewed"
 
Purge solenoid valve is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
