Removal & Installataion




CAUTION
Some models covered by this manual may be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as described in Section 6.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in the Chassis Electrical Section.
  4.  
  5. Remove the upper and lower trim covers.
  6.  
  7. Tilt the column to the CENTER position.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the connectors from the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove 2 pan head tapping screws from the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.
  12.  
  13. Remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.
  14.  

To install:


NOTE
The electrical contact on the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly must rest on the turn signal cancel cam assembly.

  1. Install the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.
  2.  
  3. Secure by using 2 pan head tapping screws.

  5. Tighten the screw on top of the column to 27 inch lbs. (3 Nm)
  6.  
  7. Tighten the screw in the front to 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm)
  8.  
  9. Connect the connectors to the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.
  10.  
  11. Install the upper and lower trim covers.
  12.  
  13. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in SIR.

CAUTION
When performing service around the SIR system components or wiring, the SIR system MUST be disabled. Failure to do so could result in possible air bag deployment, personal injury or unneeded SIR system repairs.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  3. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in the Chassis Electrical Section.
  4.  
  5. Remove the upper and lower trim covers.
  6.  
  7. Tilt the column to the CENTER position.

  9. Disconnect the connectors from the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove 2 pan head tapping screws from the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.
  12.  
  13. Remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.
  14.  

To install:
