Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake caliper and wire it out of the way.
  8.  
  9. Remove the brake rotor.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the ABS sensor connector.
  12.  
  13. Remove the axle hub nut.
  14.  
  15. Remove the upper arm-to-knuckle nut
  16.  
  17. Separate the upper arm from the knuckle. Do not use a pickle fork or pry bar to separate the arm.
  18.  
  19. From the backside, remove the wheel hub/bearing retaining bolts.
  20.  
  21. Install tool J-45859 onto the wheel hub and secure with 2 lug nuts.
  22.  
  23. Use the tool to disengage the halfshaft from the wheel hub and bearing. Support the halfshaft.
  24.  
  25. Remove the tool from the wheel hub and remove the wheel hub/bearing assembly.

To install:

  1. Install the wheel hub/bearing and tighten the bolts to 92 ft. lbs. (125 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the arm to the knuckle and tighten the nut to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm), plus an additional 210°.
  4.  
  5. Install a new axle shaft nut and tighten the nut to 118 ft. lbs. (160 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install or connect the following:

    ABS sensor connector
     
    Brake rotor
     
    Brake caliper
     
    Wheel and tire assembly
     

  8.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake caliper and wire it out of the way.
  8.  
  9. Remove the brake rotor.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the ABS sensor connector.
  12.  
  13. Remove the axle hub nut.
  14.  
  15. Remove the upper arm-to-knuckle nut
  16.  
  17. Separate the upper arm from the knuckle. Do not use a pickle fork or pry bar to separate the arm.
  18.  
  19. From the backside, remove the wheel hub/bearing retaining bolts.
  20.  
  21. Install tool J-45859 onto the wheel hub and secure with 2 lug nuts.
  22.  
  23. Use the tool to disengage the halfshaft from the wheel hub and bearing. Support the halfshaft.
  24.  
  25. Remove the tool from the wheel hub and remove the wheel hub/bearing assembly.

To install:

  1. Install the wheel hub/bearing and tighten the bolts to 92 ft. lbs. (125 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the arm to the knuckle and tighten the nut to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm), plus an additional 210°.
  4.  
  5. Install a new axle shaft nut and tighten the nut to 118 ft. lbs. (160 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install or connect the following:

    ABS sensor connector
     
    Brake rotor
     
    Brake caliper
     
    Wheel and tire assembly
