  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the ABS hydraulic control unit. Refer to Brakes section.

  7. Connect Bleeding equipment (88 19 096) hose to the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder and draw out the brake fluid from the clutch system.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect or remove the following:

    Inlet hose from the brake fluid reservoir
     
    Clip securing the delivery pipe to the master cylinder
     
    Delivery pipe from the clip
     
    Delivery pipe from the master cylinder
     
    Center console left-hand front side panel
     
    Data link connector and the lower dashboard panel
     
    Both main cylinder nuts
     
    Pushrod from the clutch pedal. Use a pair of pliers with bent jaws
     
    Master cylinder
     

  10.  

To install:

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the master cylinder nuts to: 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Bleed the clutch system and test clutch operation.
  6.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the brake fluid reservoir, then connect the brake bleeder to the bleed nipple on each front brake caliper to draw out the remaining brake fluid.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect or remove the following:

    Battery cover and the battery.
     
    Main fuse box and place it to one side
     
    For M/T: clutch fluid hose from the brake fluid reservoir
     
    Brake fluid reservoir
     
    Brake pipes
     
    Two master cylinder retaining nuts and lift out the master cylinder
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Tighten brake lines to: 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Bleed the brake system and clutch system. Check for leaks.
  6.
