Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the 2nd seat.
  4.  
  5. Open the carpet above the fuel pump.
  6.  
  7. Remove the service cover of the fuel pump.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the fuel pump connector (A).

  11. Start the engine and wait until the fuel in the fuel line is exhausted.
  12.  
  13. After the engine stops, Turn the ignition switch OFF .
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the fuel tank pressure sensor connector (A).

  17. Open the service cover of the sub fuel sender.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the sub fuel sender connector (A) and the canister close valve connector (B).

  21. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  22.  
  23. Remove the muffler assembly.
  24.  
  25. Remove the propeller shaft (4WD only).
  26.  
  27. Support the fuel tank with a jack.
  28.  
  29. Disconnect the fuel feed tube quick-connector (A) and the vacuum tube quick-connector (B).

  31. Remove the bracket near the fuel tank air filter.
  32.  
  33. Disconnect the fuel filler hose (A) and the ventilation hose quick-connector (B).

  35. Disconnect the leveling tube quick-connector.
  36.  
  37. Remove the fuel tank cover.
  38.  
  39. Remove the fuel tank band mounting nuts (A) and remove the fuel tank from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the fuel tank band mounting nuts to: 29-40 ft. lbs. (39-54 Nm).
