REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it safely using jackstands, then remove the plug and drain the engine oil from the pan and crankcase.
  2.
  3. Remove the wheel and splash shield from the right front of the vehicle.
  4.
  5. Remove the serpentine drive belt and, if necessary, remove the drive belt tensioner.
  6.
  7. Using a strap wrench or a piece of wood wedged between the damper spoke and the lower side of the engine front cover, hold the damper and remove the bolt. With a suitable 3-jaw puller and the slots cast into the damper, pull the crankshaft damper/pulley assembly from the crankshaft.

To install:
  1. Apply a thin film of RTV between the damper/pulley assembly flange and washer only, the washer and bolt head flange are designed to prevent oil leakage.
  2.
  3. Position the crankshaft damper/pulley assembly to the crankshaft, then secure using a strap wrench or piece of wood (as accomplished during removal) and tighten the retaining bolt to 159 ft. lbs. (215 Nm).
  4.
  5. If removed, install the drive belt tensioner. Install the serpentine drive belt.
  6.
  7. Install the right front splash shield and the wheel.
  8.
