WAGON

See Figures 12 and 13

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. Raise the liftgate, then remove the wedge blocks from each side of the liftgate assembly.
  4.
  5. Remove the lower fasteners from the liftgate lower trim panel, by pushing in the center of each pin approximately 1 / 8 in. until it clicks, then remove the fastener.
  6.
  7. Insert a screwdriver or small prybar into the hole in the lower trim panel (located near the wiper pivot on the pivot hump) so that the tool sits on top of the pivot. Lift up on the tool handle to disengage the trim panel upper clips, then remove the lower trim panel from the vehicle.
  8.

  14.

To install:
  1. In order to prevent the possibility of water leaks into the liftgate, inspect the lamp gasket for damage and replace, if necessary.
  2.
  3. If removed, install the bulb(s) by inserting the bottom edge of the lens into the housing and snapping it into place.
  4.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. Grasp the front and back of the light cover and remove by squeezing slightly, while pulling downward and tilting it toward the driver' side of the vehicle.

  6.

To install:
  1. Before installing the light bulb into the metal contacts, ensure that all electrical conducting surfaces are free of corrosion or dirt.
  2.
  3. Position the bulb between the two metal contacts. If the contacts have small holes, be sure that the tapered ends of the bulb are situated in them.
  4.
  5. To ensure that the replacement bulb functions properly, activate the applicable switch to illuminate the bulb which was just replaced. If the replacement light bulb does not illuminate, either it is faulty or there is a problem in the bulb circuit or switch. Correct as necessary.

  7. Install the cover until its retaining tabs are properly engaged.
  8.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
