Evaporative Canister

The vapor or carbon canister is part of the evaporative emission control system. On 1991-97 models, it is located in the right front of the engine compartment and may be accessed by removing the inner wheel liner. On 1998 models, it is located on top of the fuel tank at the left rear corner.

Servicing the carbon canister is only necessary if it is clogged, cracked or contains liquid fuel, as indicated by odor or excessive weight. For evaporative emission control system testing, removal and installation, refer to Emission Controls .
