Removal & Installation

WARNING
When disassembling the heater control & accessory panel, touch the vehicle body to eliminate the static electricity to prevent the electrical parts from being damaged.

  1. If equipped with a manual transaxle, remove the shift lever knob.
  2.  
  3. Remove the console panel trim.
  4.  
  5. Remove heater control & accessory panel, as follows:
    1. Disengage the 9 claws.
      NOTE
      If the heater control and accessory panel is removed with the cover open, it may be broken. Be sure the cover is closed during removal.

    3. Detach the connector, then remove the heater control and accessory panel.

  7. Remove the center cluster module knob.
  8.  
  9. Remove the lower heater control base:
    1. Remove the 6 screws.
    2.  
    3. Release the 2 claws and remove the A/C panel.
    4.  
    5. Release the 4 claws and remove the lower heater control base.
    6.

  11. Remove the A/C amplifier as follows:
    1. Release the claw and remove the knob.
    2.  
    3. Release the 2 claws and remove the knob.
    4.  
    5. Release the 2 claws and remove the knob.
    6.

  13. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

xA And xB



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the instrument cluster finish panel garnish no.2 and no. 1.
  4.  
  5. Remove heater control knobs
  6.  
  7. For the xA, remove instrument cluster center finish panel, as follows:
    1. Remove the 4 screws.
    2.  
    3. Disengage the 4 clips and the claw, and then remove the instrument cluster center finish panel.

    5. Detach the connectors.

  9. For the xB, remove instrument cluster center finish panel, as follows:
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2.  
    3. Using a molding or trim removal tool, disengage the 6 claws and 6 clips, and then remove the instrument cluster center finish panel.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

  11. Remove heater control and accessory assembly
    1. Disengage the 3 claws and disconnect the heater control and accessory assembly.

    3. Using a screwdriver with it-s end wrapped in tape, disengage the claw of the cable clamp and disconnect the defroster damper control cable.
      WARNING
      Be careful not to bend the cable wire. If the cable wire bends, the defroster damper control cable sub-assembly operation may be affected.

    5. Using a taped screwdriver, disengage the claw of the cable clamp and disconnect the air mix damper control cable.
      WARNING
      Be careful not to bend the cable wire. If the cable wire bends, the air mix damper control cable sub-assembly operation may be affected.

  13. Remove the heater control & accessory assembly.
  14.  
  15. Disengage the claw, and remove the air inlet damper control lever.
  16.  
  17. Remove the 2 screws and heater switch.
  18.  
  19. Remove heater or boost ventilator control assembly.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Install heater control & accessory assembly, as follows:
    1. Install the inner cable end of the air mix damper control cable on the heater control & accessory assembly.
    2.  
    3. Install the outer cable of the air mix damper control cable on the cable clamp.
      WARNING
      Be careful not to bend the cable wire. If the cable wire bends, the air mix damper control cable sub-assembly operation may be affected.


      NOTE
      Operating the heater control knob, check that it properly stops at both ends of max. Cool and max. Hot, and no recoil is identified. Check that the outer cable is not disengaged (moved) from the heater control & accessory assembly when the cable is pulled.

    4.  
    5. Install the inner cable end of the defroster damper control cable sub-assembly on the heater control lever.
    6.  
    7. Install the outer cable of the defroster damper control cable sub-assembly on the cable clamp.
    8.  
    9. Connect the connector and install the heater control and accessory assembly.
      NOTE
      Be careful not to bend the cable wire. If the cable wire bends, the heater control and accessory operation may be affected.


      NOTE
      Operating the heater control knob, check that it properly stops at both ends of face and def, and no recoil is identified. Check that the outer cable is not disengaged (moved) from the heater control & accessory assembly when the cable is pulled.
