Excessive EGR Flow Detected

Possible Causes:



EGR gas temperature sensor circuit open or shorted to ground

EGR Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) is damaged or has failed

Catalytic converter is damaged, contaminated or has failed
 
Front A/FS or rear HO2S is contaminated with fuel or moisture
 
Front A/FS or the rear HO2S is loose in its mounting hole
 
Front A/FS is older (aged) than the rear HO2S (HO2S is lazy)
 
Gas leaks at the exhaust manifold or in the exhaust pipes

Charcoal canister is clogged, loaded with fuel or with moisture
 
Fuel filler cap missing, loose (not tightened) or the wrong part

Fuel vapor hoses/tubes blocked or restricted, or fuel vapor control valve tube or fuel vapor vent valve assembly blocked

Charcoal canister is clogged, loaded with fuel or with moisture

Fuel vapor hoses/tubes blocked or restricted, or fuel vapor control valve tube or fuel vapor vent valve assembly blocked
 
Vacuum hose or tubing cracked, damaged or disconnected
 
Vapor pressure sensor is damaged or has failed
 
VSV circuit for the canister purge, VSV for the CCV or the VSV for the pressure switching valve is open or shorted to ground
 
VSV for the vapor pressure sensor circuit is open or shorted to ground, or the vapor pressure sensor is damaged or has failed
