Removal & Installation



1.5L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Drain the cooling system.
  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Front cover
     
    Oil pump seal
     
    Oil pump relief valve
     
    3 bolts and 2 screws and the oil pump cover from the front cover.

To install:

  1. Coat the oil pump rotors with clean engine oil and install into the pump body with the marks facing the pump body cover side. Tighten the mounting bolts to 78 inch lbs. (9 Nm) and 95 inch lbs. (10 Nm) for the screws.

  3. Install or connect the following:

    Oil pump relief valve. Tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
     
    Oil pump seal using Special Tool 09950-60010.
     
    Front cover
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  4.  
  5. Refill the engine with oil to the correct level.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.

  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Front cover
     
    Timing chain
     
    Oil pump assembly

To install:

  1. Install the oil pump assembly with a new gasket. Tighten the mounting bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install or connect the following:

    Timing chain
     
    Front cover
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  4.  
  5. Refill the engine with oil to the correct level.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.
