  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Discharge and recover the air conditioning system refrigerant.
  4.  
  5. Drain the cooling system.
  6.  
  7. Place front wheel facing straight ahead.
  8.  
  9. Remove or disconnect the following:
    CAUTION
    Wait 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to allow the airbag to discharge.


    NOTE
    If equipped with side curtain airbags, cover the airbag with a protective cover as soon as the trim pieces are removed.



    Negative battery cable
     



    Heater hoses
     
    A/C hoses
     
    Instrument gauge cluster hood panel
     
    Instrument gauge cluster
     
    Shift lever knob, if equipped with manual transmission
     
    Upper front floor console panel
     
    Heater control assembly
     
    Heater control assembly
     
    Center cluster module knob
     
    Lower heater control base
     
    Air conditioner amplifier assembly
     
    Radio support brackets
     
    Glove compartment door
     
    Glove compartment door stopper
     
    A-pillar trim
     



    Passenger airbag connector
     
    Instrument panel assembly with passenger airbag attached.

  11. Remove the following from the air conditioning unit:

    Drain hose
     
    Air duct
     
    Air outlet control motor
     
    Air-mix control motor
     
    Heater piping cover
     
    Heater core

  13. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
  14.  
  15. Refill the cooling system to the correct level.
  16.  
  17. Start the engine and check for leaks.
